a.k.a. NOOO!!!!! a.k.a. I’m a horrible human being…

Ok, so yet another Aangsty pic (get it? Aangsty? I’m SO clever ^.^) Anyway, the basis behind this image is the thought of what would happen if Firelord Ozai found out about what Avatar Roku told Aang in “The Avatar State” Episode. Discerning viewers will note that Aang’s eyes(mouth) and tats are glowing, and that a rather large bolt of lightning is moving straight through the vicinity of his heart. That’s right…I wouldn’t put it past Ozai to do something seriously f-ed up like this…or more likely, send Azula to do it for him. Kill the Avatar while he’s in the Avatar State, and voila! No more Avatar! ‘Twould really suck.

Lessons learned from this project:
-Inking does not ruin a drawing…it just takes a REALLY long time to do right.
-It’s ok to stop and restart. I had to completely rework his upper body ‘cause the original just was not working for me.
-The dodge tool is a miracle worker for glowy effects
-Lightning is not nearly as difficult to render as I thought
-It’s totally not cheating to use actual imagery as a base for what you plan to do. The clouds here started off as a compilation of a bunch of net imagery that I colored over and altered as needed

thanks to [link] for the lightning brushes I used as a base. All in all, this attempt at advanced digital rendering is not too shabby at all. Hope you like ^__^

This piece is absolutely stunning. When I came onto your page I couldn't keep my eyes off of it. It's just so raw and powerful. You can almost feel his pain.

More specifically, the forum. (See over on the left, where it says "Forum?") The level of discourse there is really impressive for fans of what is, when you get right down to it, a cartoon show. This is partly because of excellent moderation, and I thought so even before they made me a mod!

Kracka-wow! Lookit that! That's totally... wow! Poor Aang! Ozai sucks! That would... really suit his purposes, though. @_@

And as for Azula going to do Ozai's bidding... I'm starting to think that she's starting to resent it. I think she's gonna (stupidly) try to overthrow him and have to be taught a lsson! And I KNOW her Avatar-catching track record (at least in percentages) is as pittiful as her brother's! I wonder how long Ozai will keep her around. Well, he needs a successor, but she' gonna get some talking down to! Hmmm... that would be an interesting fic... Ozai tries to discover the secret to eternal life, because he's all power-hungry and paranoid and doesn't want to ever hand down his empire...

I smell a drabble coming.

gotta love the scent of a nice random plotline. I'm sooooooooooooooooooo amazed with how this turned out. I keep looking back at it going "I did that? @_@" Makes me happy...I really feel like i'm actually developing as an artist. maybe by time I leave Japan, I really will be ready for grad school.

Anyway, now that you mention it, I wouldn't put it past Azula to try to take down daddy dearest. She either really is Daddy's little girl, or daddy's little snake in the grass. We'll see I guess...
